How to reset OfficeScan 10.0 Server console password?

Few days back all of sudden I was not able to access Trend Micro OfficeScan server using web console. I was trying to log in with the password what I was having but unfortunately it didn’t worked! Later I realized the one of my team member changed the password but he left the organization without informing to any other team member! As usual I started googling and got many of the pages which were talking about how to reset the root password without knowing the old password. Most of the blog/articles mentioned to reset the value for master_pwd=”!CRYPT*****” to master_pwd=70 in ofcserver.ini file and restart the OfficeScan master service and login to web console with password as ‘1’. But this didn’t worked!

Finally I decided to user my other OfficeScan Server Config file and copied the encrypted password hashes from the Config fie.

The steps are as follows.

1. Backup C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Officescan\PCCSRV\Private\AuthorStore\TrendAuthDef.xml

2. Open the C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Officescan\PCCSRV\Private\AuthorStore\TrendAuthDef.xml file in edition.

3. Replace the Root password information at the bottom of the file as shown below:

Pwd=”!CRYPT!523F7DC2E525044E2800FCDEA7E5D78B70C0A4165387060525E3EE66D5D2D2F460EA361E712B5F871FD473C7A6C"

Note: Replace only the portion for the root. If there are other accounts showing please do not delete them.

4. Restart the OfficeScan Master Service.

5. Log in as root and use “trendmicro” as the password.

6. Change the root password to something more secure by going to Administration > User Accounts.

Note: Since I cannot share the password, the above root information is created for password “trendmicro”
